DIGITAL EDUCATION ACTION PLAN
In brief The Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027) has the objective to support
the development of a high-performing digital education ecosystem.
Through this Plan, the EU wants to improve the quality of education through
a correct and fruitful use of digital technology, crucial for both educators
and learners.
Relevance to VET The Plan is relevant for the VET sector to which apply its two strategic
and Metacognitive priorities:
Initiatives 1. Fostering the development of a digitally competent and confident
teaching and learning community
2. Enhancing digital capacity and resilience of education and training
systems.
The Digital Education Action Plan promotes the adoption and integration of
IT tools that can support the development of metacognitive skills, such as:
planning, reflection, self-assessment, contributing to enhancing professional
and personal competences and abilities among learners.

Following the EU policies and recommendations, many educational centres and VET institutions,
through projects and experimentations, have started to adopt or have fostered the implementation
of actions aimed at enhancing the integration of metacognitive initiatives as part of a green and
digital strategy.
For the purpose of the project MET-VET, three projects labelled as “good practices” have been
identified and selected in order to offer to VET centres and professional an inspiration for
implementing already tested products and tools adapting them to their audience and context as well
as for developing further initiatives basing on previous successful experiences.
