MET-VET – Metacognition for
Environmental Thinking in VET
Project number:
2021-2-PL01-KA220-VET-000050783
Description This project has been labelled as a “good practice” by the Maltese
Erasmus+ National Agency.
The project aimed to align vocational education and training with EU
policies and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the
United Nations for 2030. The project has gained relevance due to the
increasing global emphasis on sustainability and SDGs by the EU, UN, and
countries worldwide.
Key objectives of the project included raising awareness about greening
across VET disciplines, disseminating knowledge and accredited training
related to sustainability, integrating greening into VET curricula, up-
skilling VET teachers on environmental issues, and involving VET learners
and local communities in greening initiatives. Despite challenges posed
by the Covid-19 pandemic, the project was successfully completed with a
four-month extension.
To reach the abovementioned objectives, the project has developed
various outputs:
1) Learner Training Module, an accredited training module for learners
called Greening for a Sustainable Environment at European
Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 4
2) Teacher Training Module, a training Module for teachers to increase
the effectiveness of the teaching process for Output 1
3) Teachers’ Toolkit, a toolkit aimed at supporting educators during the
teaching process
4) Greening in TVET Website & App for assisting the dissemination of
the project outputs, resources, green news, projects and events
5) Logo, that both reflects the core aspects of the outputs and also
unifies them under a common representation
6) “Greening The Campus Guidebook”, an initiative across the partner
institutions with the goal of creating an informative guidebook on the
subject for other TVET stakeholders
The project successfully modernized the VET approach regarding
greening issues in several countries, with the potential for widespread
adoption of its approaches and outputs in other organisations all over
Europe and beyond.
