                                            Environmental Thinking in VET
                                                   Project number:
                                          2021-2-PL01-KA220-VET-000050783

Description The RetroVET project has supported the fight against climate change and
has promoted the benefits of an environmentally sustainable approach to
vocational education and training through the “Green Elements”: Green
VET Strategy; Green VET Approach; Green VET Skills and Knowledge.
These elements cover each of the key VET centre stakeholder perspectives
and aims to provide a holistic, inclusive approach to the “greening” of
                                             existing European VET.
RetroVET directly supports The European Green Deal as a new growth
strategy and recognises the key role of VET institutions to engage with
learners, parents, educators and the wider community on the changes
needed for a successful transition to become climate neutral by 2050.
Linked to this priority, RetroVET has contributed to adapt VET to labour
market needs by supporting the development of a set of innovative tools
which will inspire VET centres to offer a balanced mix of vocational skills
linked to existing and evolving jobs and working methods as well as key
                                             green skills competences.
The RetroVET project has directly contributed to innovation in VET through
the development of four project results:
                                             1) the Best Practice Handbook on Green Skills integration in VET
                                                (https://retrovet.erasmus.site/platform/handbook)
                                             2) The Benchmarking Tool to assess the level of VET teachers’, trainers’
                                                and practitioners’ green approaches.”
                                             3) the Matching Tool, to connect with other SMEs and share knowledge
                                                and experience (https://retrovet.erasmus.site/platform/login)
                                             4) the eCourse for facilitators to foster green skills
                                                (https://retrovet.erasmus.site/platform/ecourse)
These project results constitute a unique set of tools in European VET,
which by their nature and purpose can continue to support innovation in
VET by being easily adopted in other VET institutions

1.3 Experiences from the field: Metacognition, green skills and Change
                      Management

In the framework of the project MET-VET, the partners have conducted a field-research to investigate
the adoption and effectiveness of integration and change management strategies within VET centres,
specifically focusing on digitalization and green transition initiatives. The questions aimed to
understand whether such strategies exist, the details of their implementation, and the reasons for
their absence if not adopted. Additionally, it was investigated the integration of metacognitive skills

                                                                                                        12
